Many fires are preventable and by following a few guidelines, we can help keep each other safe.

Did you know that older adults (people 65+) are most at risk of dying in a fire in MA. Seniors account for nearly 1/2 of all fire deaths.

Some useful tips if you’re a smoker:

 -Smoke outdoors

 - Use a large sturdy ashtray or tin can filled with sand

  • Be sure matches & smoking materials are fully extinguished
  • Never extinguish cigarettes in potted plants or mulch
  • If drowsy or falling asleep, put your cigarette out.  NEVER smoke in bed

Heating and electrical fire are also leading causes of death to older adults at home.  Remember to:

  • Have furnaces & chimneys cleaned & inspected each year
  • Keep 3 feet of space free of clutter & things that can catch fire around furnaces, hot water heaters, fireplaces & wood stoves
  • Keep space heaters 3 feet away from everything that can burn.

Be sure to check on elderly family and neighbors.

If you suffer a fire loss or know someone that does, we are always available to start restoring your property.  Call us anytime at 508-676-9100.
